About John - What the students had to say! BIO RESUME
|
"I came to John about a year ago as a fugitive from years of working out with
weights. I was strong, but continued to have debilitating back and neck
problems. After a year of Yoga with John, my back and neck are greatly
improved, and my need for anti-inflammatory medication has almost
disappeared! His gentle style and love of his art combined with a great
depth of knowledge have made a very positive impact on my life. I highly
recommend him."

"John was a fabulous teacher in so many ways. I was impressed with the way he
took the time to get to know his students as individuals. He remembered each of
our names from the first class, what our strengths, abilities and weak points
were, and what motivated us. John was genuine in his desire to have his
students come to a place of comfort with yoga, whatever that might look like;
he was very accepting of each person finding their own path. I really enjoyed
John's sense of humor; his playfulness made the class feel lighthearted, even
as he was moving us to the next level of a pose. He was such a great teacher; I
think I had the best too early in my yoga career."
Kate Amerson - Austin, TX
"Both of us credit John as our favorite yoga instructor. John brings to the
class verbal and physical skills and a caring attitude. He watches what you are
doing and wants you to do it right. He concisely explains the postures or
movements to the whole class and in one on one instruction. He is easy to
understand and it is clear what he wants you to do. Rather than providing a
range of options, which may be confusing to a beginner, he gives specific
instructions on one way to do the pose. He also has a good sense of humor which
compliments and does not detract from the over-all spiritual nature of the
class. His voice is very soothing and relaxing, but firm, inspiring the yoga
student to try harder to achieve the full benefit of the postures."
Mary Jane Ford and Bob Porter - Austin, TX
"John's class provided an excellent combination of moves that were structured
to provide challenge to more advanced students and could still be done by less
able students. He pushed us to do more but was always mindful of our individual
abilities. My work is very intense. Every time I finished his class, I was
relaxed and invigorated and after almost a year with him, I'm more agile,
stronger, and my back doesn't hurt."

"Wish you were here to lead us all in a meditation like the one you did in one
of our final classes. It was a very profound experience. But then, and I never
told you this, all your classes were profound!" TA - Burke, VA
"Your classes have really been terrific. I feel like my standing postures have
become stronger under your direction as well as my willingness to try familiar
poses with a new slant."
LH - Burke, VA

"I have studied qigong privately with John over the past year. He is an
excellent teacher: patient, caring, and conscientious. He really understands
and embodies the spirit of the practice. I recommend him highly."
Lorena Monda, DOM - Placitas, New Mexico
"I'd like to share my gratitude for your introducing me to the Sheng Zhen
practice. Your leadership and teaching helped me through a very hard time in my
life. You also helped me establish a love for the practice and I have no doubt
that the practice will continue to be a very important cornerstone of my life."
Mary Grout - Austin, TX
"John is a gifted movement teacher. He has the ability to articulate the
essence of a movement so precisely that in one sentence you can have an 'aha'
moment that can profoundly transform your understanding of the movement, both
kinesthetically and mentally. Watching John practice Sheng Zhen qigong is a
gift in itself; one experiences an infusion of ecstatic calm. John embodies the
movements and spirit of Sheng Zhen as few others have accomplished. John
understands with humility and grace the profound nature of Sheng Zhen qigong."
Kate McMorrow, RMT - Austin, TX
"John teaches his qi gong classes with inspired skill. He is able to
bring/communicate the essence of Sheng Zhen nearly as effectively as Master Li,
and provides plenty of personal attention to the individual pace and style of
his students. I always come out of John's classes feeling transformed."
Diane Pan - Austin, TX
"I recommend John Kuberka as a wonderful qigong teacher. He explained and broke
the movements down to easy-to-learn steps and taught at a good pace for
learning, as well as keeping my interest. He gave good individual attention
whenever needed during the group classes. I was impressed both with how he led
my small class with a calm gentleness, as well as his commanding presence when
he led a large group of nearly 50 at Sheng Zhen teacher training."
Holly Ice - Austin, TX
"John is a very kind and patient teacher, very knowledgeable about his subject
and how to teach it. I always went home feeling better."
PBK - Austin, TX
"I studied Qigong with you for over a year and I hardly missed a class session
because I looked forward to it so much. You had a style that not only showed
mastery of the movement but also a real willingness to help the student achieve
the desired results. You made each class seem like it was a special time. You
never over worked us but you also knew the benefit of drill. Your meditation
sessions were sublime. I appreciated the way you could teach the move in a
mirror image and rarely - if ever- got confused. This again was due to your
solid understanding & knowledge of the Qigong."
Matt Coldwell - Austin, TX
"I've known John for about two years and during that time have had the
opportunity to study and learn Qigong with him. His teaching style is precise,
gentle, humorous, comprehensive, insightful, empathetic, creative and wise.
Some teachers are right for some people; John is right for everyone."
Russ Chalk - Austin, TX
"John Kuberka is an excellent movement teacher and very much embodies the
spirit of Sheng Zhen."
Alex Schaub - Austin, TX
"I just started taking Qigong in August 2004 and even though I have not used it
for a long period of time I got immediate help with some muscular pain that I
had been having and an increase in my energy level. John is a very
knowledgeable teacher. He is patient, calm and you really feel like you are
working with someone who completely understands Qigong and who can guide you
through the movements very easily."
Richard Armor - Austin, TX
"John is an inspiring and transformative teacher of a Qigong form that has
dramatically increased my energy levels and emotional well-being. John's
gentle, confident, and reassuring style of instruction guides my body - and my
mind -- in letting go and trusting myself. He is great!"
Kert Peterson, former Senior Manager, Amazon.com - Austin, TX
"John Kuberka? Hell, he's just a pizza lovin', Virginia transplant, who finally
moved to the Holy Land (Austin), and a man who teaches a dang good Sheng Zhen
Wuji Yuan Gong (and yoga) with a deep and abiding commitment to his students
and the practice."
